Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF 15 Review

As promised I had said I will be doing reviews on the Bobbi Brown products I got from New York. They are definitely much cheaper in the US then they are in Australia. I paid almost half of what I would've if I purchased it here.

The first thing I wanted to pick up was this Bobbi Brown Foundation. If you have been following me on my blog you would know that I had purchased another foundation from Bobbi Brown. I had started finding that that foundation was a bit too heavy in the summer since it was so highly moisturising.

I chose this foundation because it has added SPF which is a must if you're living in a sunny place like Australia.

The foundation claims that it is:
Lightweight, water-based foundation instantly hydrates and freshens.
For combination, normal and normal to dry skins.
  • Hydrates skin and gives it an instantly fresh look
  • buildable coverage evens out skin tone while looking completely natural
  • long-wearing formula resists streaking
  • provides broad-spectrum protection from sun's damaging rays
What is my verdict?
Love, love, love this product! I am a HUGE Bobbi Brown fan and I am slowly buying all my products from her range. This foundation is definitely amazing. If you have tanned skin like me and don't want to look like you have foundation on (like those awful ones which makes you look like a ghost) then this is the foundation for you. Your skin looks so healthy and actually gives you this extra glow. Not only does it do wonders for your skin but it boosts your confidence because you know that your skin is looking good (a definite extra tick from me). So if you want amazing natural looking skin then this is definitely the foundation to choose.

I am the shade Honey (perfect for yellow toned Indian skin)

Perfect pump.

Can you tell I have something on? Ofcourse not! That's the beauty of this foundation!

Have any of you tried this?

Keep Smiling :)

Also just to let you guys know, Bobbi Brown has two books on make up! I will be reviewing them soon!

Maybelline FIT concealer- Review

I was keen to try out this new (relatively) concealer by Maybelline. It's from their line 'FIT' which is supposed to be able to 'fit' your tone to make it look like you're not wearing any makeup at all.

I bought the shade 35 deep (which was the darkest available) because I have a tan to dark skin colour.

Below I have posted a picture of my eyes before the colour and then with it. I honestly wasn't that happy about the product. Like most concealers, they don't cater to Indian skin (unless its an indian beauty brand). And by Indian skin i mean tan to dark skin like mine. The concealer was hard to work with and hard to blend. When blended it still looks 'white' and noticeable against my skin colour. However, after a while the concealer was less apparent as it set into my skin. Generally I would be apply some form of powder or foundation over the concealer to blend it in but I wanted to try it out as per how it was.

I think this product is good for lighter coloured skin tones, it isnt that cheap (AUD $14) therefore I wouldn't be repurchasing it.

Eyes before the concealer.

Took a photo in natural lighting but the brown-ness of the product wasnt showing through so I took a photo with the flash below and the colour is more close to real life.

A Miracle in a jar- EXTRA Bobbi Brown Repair Foundation SPF 25

Until I bought myself this fantastic foundation I didnt know what was missing in my life. I had been eyeing this foundation for a while but because of the huge markup in price in Austraila $132 (US $55) I was slightly hesitant to purchase it. However, I couldn't hold back and decided to take the plunge and try out this foundation.

I had done my research before I purchased it, and most of the reviews on this product were positive and everyone had said they have seen great results for it. I mainly chose this foundation because of its moisturising qualities. I have extremely dry skin and when I apply any foundation my skin looks cakey even if I had applied a liquid foundation.

The packaging adds to the class of the product. The rough texture of the box really makes that slight difference from a plain box.

The websites 'blurb' as so to speak states this about the product:

NEW Extra Repair Foundation SPF 25 gives skin perfect coverage, moisture & broad-spectrum sun protection. Infused with Shea Butter and Evening Primrose Oil, this does-it-all formula combines all the skin-nourishing benefits of Bobbi’s Extra Skincare with the skin tone-correct color and buildable coverage of her foundations. Over time, it also helps replenish & strengthen skin. Ideal for dry and very dry skin types.
Featured in 'Vogue' Magazine (March 2011) & 'Allure' Magazine (April 2011).

I am in the shade 'golden'. Bobbi Brown is known for creating briliant foundations which suit nearly all skin shades, because she encompasses shades with a yellow undertone as well as a red undertone. Yellow undertone is great for Asian/ Indian skins.

Above are the various shades this foundation comes in. As you can see there is a vast range which Im sure will match nearly every skin tone!

Since it has She Butter it is quite a thick foundation. It is ideally great for the winter when your skin needs that extra bit of TLC. Its buildable, so you can work for the correct colour and coverage by adding more product. I find that even with very very very small pea size product it covers my whole face and makes it look flawless! I also love the smell of the product, its very calming.

Since I have started using this product I have receieved a huge amount of compliments on how great my skin is looking! This is one product I would definitely repurchase when Im done with this jar (which won't be anytime soon). But I think I have finally found what I had  been looking for, and it was definitely worth the wait!

These are some reviews I picked up from their website (evidence that this product is hands down amazing):

Excellent Foundation
Date:June 26, 2011
Pros: Dry Skin
Cons: Can't live without
"I love this foundation. I can't put my finger on what's different about it, but I love the finish the foundation has and the overall appearance of my skin when wearing it. For me it does not accentuate fine lines or wrinkles. My skin just looks great. I would recommend trying it before buying as it is expensive, but a little bit goes a long way and the jar should last a long time."

Great for drier skin
Date:July 29, 2011
Pros: Dry Skin
"This is great for drier skin types. In the past, I've never been able to wear foundation because it would start to crease on my skin. I love how this includes UVA/UVA SPF plus foundation...it really saves me time in my morning routine. It also smells good and feels good on my skin! I love all the EXTRA products! Thank you BB! :)"

Have any of you tried the new foundation? Let me know, leave a comment below :)

Precision Blending Sponge

Alot of beauty gurus have been raving about this product already, and I have been a bit slow to implement it in my daily foundation routine.

Its called the Precision Blending Sponge, and its supposed to create the 'complete foundation look'. The pointed end is perfect for intricate spots and angles; the rounded end covers large areas of the face. At the back of the product it states  that "this amazing contoured tool has an extra fine suede texture to achieve an ultra-light,streak finish, Non allergic, antibacterial latex sponge."

After using this sponge, I realised what I was missing. It has made applying foundation and councealer so much easier! And you can definitely notice the results!

One tip would be to actully soak the sponge in water so when applying foundation it doesnt end up eating all of your foundation since its already full of water :).

Enjoy!

LAKME Perfect Radiance Collection

Had ordered these two Lakme products from India. They are a really well-known brand over there so I wanted to try their face care range out. I had tried out their makeup- and totally love their eyeliners.

1. Perfect Radiance Whitening Foundation
2. Perfect Radiance Whitening face cream

Thats the foundation- the packing is really nice but the foundation doesnt come with a lid :(. I have a feeling itll dry out very quickly.

The face creame came in a very very very small bottle- not sure if that is because you're only supposed to use a little at a time.

The shade I got was number 5 and it is a bit orangy.

Swatch like so...

but once you blend it into the skin- it matches perfectly
ps photo is slightly blurred (sorry!)

the cream is a very thick texture to it but smells lovely!

It's not very creamy and when you apply it you have to be quick because it 'dries' onto the skin and if youre not quick enough you have white swatches all over your face!
I use my elizabeth arden moisturiser on the top of this otherwise my face feels too dry!

Has anyone tried these products? If so, what are your tips and tricks?

keep smiling :)
