Hello everyone!
I want to introduce you to my new Diwali Special. This will include everything from Diwali looks, hairstyles, outfits, how to decorate and recipes for some yummy Diwali sweets.
I love celebrating Diwali even though I don't live in India. This festival brings with it happiness and rejuvenation in my life. For those who don't know what Diwali is, google it (since they will give you a nice explanation of this Indian Festival). A lot of you may hear this festival as the 'festival of lights'. It truly is an incredible time of the year and I look forward to it every time.
Mendhi
I wanted to start the first segment of the Diwali Special talking about mendhi. Since Karva Chaut has just been and gone, mendhi is also used for Diwali as a body ornament.
I usually make mendhi (henna) from scratch. I order the mendhi powder and mix it with coffee water and leave it over night (this enhances the mixture to make the mendhi come out darker when applied the next day). I make my own cones by using old plastic bags, but you have to remember the should be quite strong not the flimsy ones you get from the grocers.
However, only recently (well this year) I discovered this new 'Black Mendhi'. It is evident from its colour and strong paint smell that it is chemically infused. Below are the pictures of the two varieties you can buy.
The one good thing about this product is that it is great for those days when you dont have time to make your own mendhi and you want colour fast. You only need to apply this product for MAX 5 mins and you will have a deep dark maroon colour in no time (this usually takes 3-4 hours with regular mendhi).
It literally comes out black!
This is after a week of washing, the colour still remains visible.
This product is great for:
- People who don't have time to make their own
- people who want deep colour, fast.
Hope you enjoyed the first of many in my Diwali Special. Next to come will be some outfits that I have styled for you to get some ideas. If you have any requests or want to know something specific about the products I have mentioned, please leave a comment below!
Keep Smiling :)
